Prof Paul Mansiangi, MD

Former Deputy Director of Kinshasa School of Public Health

Prof Paul Mansiangi was a medical entomologist at the University of Kinshasa (DRC) focusing on vector bioecology and evaluation of vector control interventions, especially for blackflies (in onchocerciasis control) and mosquitoes (in the fight against malaria). He was the deputy director of Kinshasa School of Public Health and coordinator of Bio-ecology and vector control laboratory of Environmental Health Department in the same institurion. His work focused on the use and durability of Long-lasting insecticidal nets (LLINs). He coordinated the research on the characterisation of Anopheles breeding sites in Kinshasa. He also participated in the research on the resistance of Anopheles to insecticides (coordinated by his collaborators, such as Dr Metelo) and in the monitoring and evaluation of malaria vector control interventions. Prof Mansiangi passed away on the 1st of November, 2021. His research and dedication to public health will leave a lasting impact on the field and on those who had the privilege of working with him.
